In 2025, as many as 466 courtyards were landscaped in Kazan under the Our Yard republican program. More than 4 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for this purpose. One of the most significant projects was the renovation of the yard at 41 Amirkhana Street. An area of 30.5 thousand square meters were improved, the project provided for comfortable conditions for two thousand residents from four residential complexes. The asphalt pavement and social infrastructure was completely renovated, but also the republic’s first dog-friendly area was opened. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the work done.
“We have renovated 466 streets under the program of Rais of Tatarstan, and the improvements have benefited more than 100,000 residents of Kazan. Thanks to the Dog-Friendly Tatarstan initiative, for the first time we have started including specialized dog walking areas in renovation projects. Although these areas may not be large, they are sufficient for walking with puppies or quiet pets. Owners of young and active dogs also have the opportunity to use large urban spaces,”- said the Mayor of the city.
The yard with an area of 30,500 square meters unites four apartment buildings, where almost two thousand people live. The main feature of the yard is a playground for dog walking, the first of its kind in Tatarstan, which can be used for 81 dogs. The space has been fenced off and equipped with a canopy, benches, hooks for personal belongings, and a dispenser for hygiene bags that residents must refill themselves. The purpose of this area is not to provide a training ground, but rather to ensure safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
