The Mayor of Tatarstan capital city Ilsur Metshin met
today with the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan Atadurdy Bayramov. The
parties discussed promising avenues of cooperation. The meeting was also
attended by Evgenia Lodvigova, Vice-mayor of Kazan.
The decision to open Russia's second Consulate General
in Kazan was made in 2019 by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov.
Residents of 14 regions of Russia can receive consular services in the capital
of Tatarstan. The first Consulate General of Turkmenistan has been operating in
Astrakhan since 2013.
The appearance of a new Consulate General in the
capital of Tatarstan is another important step to strengthen friendly and
partnership relations between Russia and Turkmenistan, Kazan Mayor Ilsur
Metshin said.
Atadurdy Bayramov, who headed the Consulate in May, in
turn, noted that their country attaches importance to the development of
Turkmen-Russian relations in many areas.
For information, in 2018 Kazan was visited by almost
5.3 thousand citizens of Turkmenistan, in 2019 – more than 9.5 thousand people.
