Six public
spaces are planned to be improved in Kazan in 2020, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of
Tatarstan capital city, announced today at the XXXVIII session of the Kazan
city Duma.
Improvement
works will be carried out at the Black lake park, the square on Avangardnaya
street, on the territory of the railway workers’ cultural center in Yudino and
near the cultural center named after Said-Galiyev in Derbyshki, on Yunusovskaya
square. Besides, two more areas will be improved on the embankment of the Nizhny
Kaban lake as part of the second stage of reconstruction: on Sh.Marjani street,
from the theater named after G.Kamal to the monument of Sh. Marjani, and from
M. Salimzhanov street, from the fitness center building to N. Nazarbayev
street.
In the
summer season, new “the Zambezi River” zoo will operate in full mode, the Mayor
added. “It will be inhabited by the brightest representatives of the African
continent, - said I.Metshin. – Perhaps for the first time in its 200-year
history, the zoo has been not just repaired, but was renovated completely. Not
every zoo in Russia can boast of such large-scale transformations. I would like
to thank Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for this project, and thank our
business and corporate citizens for animals’ collection development to the zoo”.
For
information, in 2019, almost 1.5 billion rubles were allocated for the
improvement of eight public spaces in Kazan. These funds were used to improve
the coastal areas of the Maloye and Bolshoye Lebyazhye lakes, completion of the
second stage of the Ak chechekler boulevard, improvement of the Walk of Fame in
the Yudino village and other public spaces. Over the last 9 years, with the
support of the Republic and the Federal center in Kazan renewed and created 78
public spaces, the total recreation area has increased by 164 ha. Presently,
there are 144 recreation areas with a total area of 412 hectares in the capital
of Tatarstan.
