I. Metshin: “By September 1, children and parents will see a new level of school food in Kazan”

(KZN.RU, August 6, Alena Miroshnichenko). Today, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, inspected the canteen overhaul progress of the school №103 of the Novo-Savinovsky district. In the new school year, a modern school restaurant will open there. Due to the work, the capacity of the dining room will increase from 250 to 280 places.

This year a large-scale program is being implemented in Kazan. Overhauls of canteens are being carried out in 36 schools of the city, instead of them, school restaurants will open by September 1. “Our children, teachers and parents will appreciate this unprecedented program. The number of people eating in our school restaurants will increase”, marked Ilsur Metshin.

The school building on Adoratsky Street, №41a, was built in 1985. Major repairs have not been carried out in it since then. Rinat Khabibullin, the director of the educational institution, said that the construction of a school restaurant began in July. Windows and ventilation were replaced in the canteen, pipes, plumbing, heating and electricity systems in the catering unit, doors were installed and a loading area was organized. To date, work has been completed by 63%. In addition, the missing equipment will be delivered: a large steamer, a refrigerating chest, and a cabinet.

Rima Mukhamedshina, the general director of the Department of Food and Social Catering, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, that the school restaurant will be decorated according to the standard design in olive color. The design will include the identity of the Tatarstan capital, posters that promote healthy eating. Bar counters will be installed along the walls.

“This is a long-awaited repair for us. After finishing work, the children will see what the school canteen really should be”, said Rinat Khabibullin. He noted that 830 people will study at the school in the new school year.

In addition to the overhaul of the dining room, much attention must be paid to the food quality, noted the Mayor of Kazan. He reminded that from September 1, children will be offered a new menu in school canteens. “It is important for us that children eat well-balanced food and get enough vitamins”, marked the Mayor. “We will invite parent committees, discuss the topic of catering at school meetings. I am sure that by September 1, children, their parents, and teachers will see a qualitatively new level of school food in Kazan”.

Together with the Mayor of Kazan, Rustem Gafarov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee, Timur Alibaev, the head of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts’ administration, and Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, got acquainted with the repair work in the school restaurant.
