New road to connect river port and Kirov dam
(KZN.RU, October 14, by Renat Shirmanov). A new road will be built from the river port to the Kirov dam, becoming part of the Great Kazan Ring. The new thoroughfare will run along a new street named after Alfred Khalikov and should lighten traffic in the city center.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected a section of the new road and held a meeting concerned with its construction.
The decision to build the street was taken last March at the 4th session of the Kazan City Duma of the 2nd convocation. The road is already asphalt paved, but is still in need of substantial repairs. The road will be greatly expanded and sidewalks moved closer to the river bank. The territory will be improved, and Kazan will have another pedestrian area.
The new road along Alfred Khalikov Street will be another step in the construction of the Great Ring of Kazan – a non-stop traffic thoroughfare. The Kirov dam had already been reconstructed, and a new road along Bolshaya Krylovka Street built.
