The 9th International Economic Summit “Russia – the Islamic
World: KazanSummit 2017” is held in Kazan

(KZN.RU, May 19). Kazan
hosts the 9th International Economic Summit “Russia – the Islamic
World: KazanSummit 2017”. The event was attended by the President of Tatarstan
Rustam Minnikhanov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexey
Pesoshin, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials.
“By the example of
the Republic of Tatarstan we aim to establish practical mechanisms of interaction
with Islamic business. An important role in this process is played by
KazanSummit,” - R.Minnikhanov said at the plenary session of the summit. Before
the session the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and other honorable
guests of the event visited the exhibition organized in the Korston hall. The
representatives of the republican enterprises exhibited their experience of
cooperation with the OIC countries, the project of the Bulgarian Islamic
Academy was presented, and Ilshat Gafurov, the rector of Kazan Federal
University, presented the International Coordination Center “Islamica” to
foreign delegates.
In a welcoming speech
R. Minnikhanov mentioned that “KazanSummit” is held for the 9th time.
It always gathers at one site politicians and businessmen, public and religious
figures, scientists and young people from different countries, who are all interested
in expanding economic cooperation between Russian Federation and its regions and
Muslim states.
The President of
Tatarstan expressed deep gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and the State Duma
of the Russian Federation for their assistance in organizing the forum.
“The traditional main
topic of the summit is Islamic investment and partnership finance. Other directions
of work of current interest are social entrepreneurship, ecology, charity,
tourism, Islamic education and other issues,” - the President of Tatarstan said.
“Today,
cooperation of countries and regions in the sphere of partnership finance is of
special significance,” - the President of the Republic of Tatarstan emphasized.
Thus, according to international think tanks, in the coming decades the Muslim
population in the world will grow at a faster rate. This will contribute to the
expansion of the halal sectors of the economy: Islamic finance, halal food,
health care, fashion, cosmetics, tourism, etc. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that
the world's leading companies see new opportunities for business development on
Muslim markets.
