November 3). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, today
congratulated Sofia Gubaidulina, the famous composer, member of the All-Russian
public organization “Russian Union of composites”, with the 85-year
anniversary.
Rustam
Minnikhanov handed Sofia Gubaidulina the state award – Order of the Republic of
Tatarstan “Duslyk”. The award was given in accordance with the Presidential
Decree for significant contribution to the development of musical art and many
years of creative activity.
The
ceremony took place in the White Hall of the Governor's Palace of the Kazan
Kremlin. Leila Fazleeva, the assistant of the President of the RT, Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Airat Sibagatullin, the minister of Culture, and
others took part in it.
“I am proud
of my homeland – Tatarstan, proud of Kazan, which has become so beautiful”,
said Sofia Gubaidulina. “My whole soul is with you, I am grateful for such a
warm welcome that I had here”.
Sofia
Gubaidulina also shared her impressions of the creative meeting in the Kazan
State Conservatory, which was held yesterday, where she once studied.
Rustam
Minnikhanov said that the name of the composer Sofia Gubaidulina written in
golden letters in the history of music and the history of Tatarstan, reports
the press-service of the President of the RT. “Your work is invaluable”, said
Rustam Minnikhanov, referring to the composer. “We are proud of the fact that
you are our compatriot. We wish that we could celebrate together 90 years, and
95 and 100 years as well”.

Sofia
Gubaidulina was born October 24, 1931 in the city of Chistopol, TASSR, Russian
composer, author of more than 100 symphonies, works for soloists, chorus and
orchestra, instrumental ensembles, music for theater, movies and cartoons.
In 1991,
Sofia Gubaidulina has received German grant and was in Worpswede for six
months. Since 1992 lives in Appen near Hamburg, keeping Russian citizenship.
In 2005 she
held a world tour dedicated to the Millennium of Kazan.
In 2011,
celebrations and events in honor of the 80th anniversary of S. Gubaidulina took
place in Kazan, including two of the festival named after her and the
announcement of her as honorary citizen of Kazan.
In 2013,
82-year-old composer has participated in the festival “The rest is noise” in
London, dedicated to politics and spirituality in art.
In 2011,
the annual Festival of Contemporary Music named after Sofia Gubaidulina
“Concordia”, in which well-known Russian and foreign composers and performers
participate, was founded with her personal patronage and participation of
forces of the Kazan State Symphony Orchestra of the RT. The festival artistic
director is Alexander Sladkovsky, an Honored Artist of Russia.
The
International Piano Competition in her name with the participation of students
of Kazan and other conservatories held in Kazan.
The Center
of contemporary music acts in Kazan in a renovated house on Telman Street,
where the composer spent her childhood.
