The ceremony of memorable cancellation of artistic postage stamp, dedicated to the stadium “Kazan Arena”, which will take the matches of the World Cup in 2018, was held today in the Kazan City Hall. The ceremony was attended by Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Oleg Dukhovnitsky, the head of the Federal Agency of Communications, Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Youth and Sport of the RT.

“Today, we are one step closer to the World Cup, which will be held in Russia for the first time”, said Ilsur Metshin. “Issue of philatelist products, dedicated to such activities, is a tradition all over the world, from which we have not retreated”.

The Mayor pointed out that Kazan became the fourth city, where the ceremony of memorable cancellation of postage stamp, dedicated to the tournament, is held. Previously such actions took place in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod. The matches will be held in 11 Russian cities. “Stamps with the image of the main stadium of the country, including “Kazan Arena”, will always keep the memory of the Russian championship in the history of the world”, Ilsur Metshin assured.

According to him, holding such a tournament is a big responsibility, so careful preparation for the World Cup is being carried out. Ilsur Metshin reminded that the training grounds are being built and reconstructed under the federal program in Kazan. Reconstruction of the training ground in the stadiums “Rubin” and “Elecon” will end this year. The following year - in another five football fields.

“We strive to provide the ideal conditions for athletes in every game and training”, marked the Mayor of Kazan. Renewed football fields will be the legacy of the World Cup, including the stadium “Kazan Arena”.

The Mayor also told about the preparation of volunteers for the championship, which is conducted in the volunteer center on the basis of the Volga Region Academy of Sport and Tourism. “I have no doubt that this time our active youth reaffirmed their responsiveness and professionalism again”, said Ilsur Metshin.

He expressed the hope that stamps that will gather philatelists from all over the country, become a symbol of a grand international event and will bring success to the country. “We have to work hard to keep fond memories of the hospitality and cordiality of our city, the republic and the country forever in the hearts of the participants and guests of the championship”, said the Mayor of Kazan.

Commemorative souvenir stamp with the date of celebration of the City Day and the Day of the Republic, 30 August, on it was made specifically for the cancellation ceremony. It prints on envelopes with stamps pasted on them. The stamp series “World Cup FIFA 2018 in Russia. Stadiums”, which value is 21 rubles, has the stadium “Kazan Arena” depicted on it. Stamps have already arrived in the post circulation and are available in all post offices.

“Philatelists unprecedented program started, devoted to the World Cup. Circulation of stamps is serious - 400 thousand copies”, said Oleg Dukhovnitsky. “Stamps will be distributed throughout the country, will go abroad and promote the upcoming World Cup and Kazan”.

Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Youth and Sports of the PT, reminded that one of the main events of FIFA will be held this year: the draw of Confederations Cup 2017 for next year will be held in autumn in Kazan, as well as in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi, and Cup confederations matches will take place.
