I. Metshin: "Our task is to ensure the safety of residents and visitors"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 18, Ksenia Shvetsova). To ensure the safety of citizens, particularly at public events, to strengthen the work of local police officers - such an order was given by Mayor Ilsur Metshin at the last meeting of the III Session of Kazan City Duma today.

As the head of the city noted, the security of residents and guests of Kazan depends on the coherence of the police. They had shown themselves at a high level - in the past year Kazan police provided up to 3 thousand of cultural and sporting events. The Mayor thanked them for organized work and encouraged to continue to do everything possible to protect the tranquility of residents and visitors to the capital of Tatarstan.

"We will continue to do all we can to facilitate the work of the police - said I. Metshin. - We are facing important problems that complicate the international situation: the threat of terrorism and ethnic conflicts. Our task is to provide the full safety of the residents and guests of the capital in this circumstances, to involve everyone in this work, especially those who work in the territorial departments of the police”. Mayor called heads of regional administrations and heads of territorial police departments for vigilance and strengthening of the work of the organization at all events. In the future it is planned to pay special attention to improving the working conditions of local police officers - for example, to organize the construction of administrative and residential complexes for them.

Such measures are not in vain - as the chief of the Office of the Interior Ministry in Kazan Valery Krasilnikov told, compared to last year the number of crimes committed in the city increased by 20% and amounted to almost 20 thousand. The number of crimes committed with the help of IT-technology increased significantly - by 1.5 times. So, every 15th theft is a theft of money from bank cards.

Thus, despite an increase in the number of crimes, nearly all violators of public order are punished - now the best results of operational activity over the past 5 years recorded in Kazan. At the end of this year it amounted to 33.5%. Detection of serious offenses is 40%, of very serious - about 50%.

Preventive work has great influence on the crime rate. For example, as noted V.Krasilnikov, this year juvenile crime increased. Mayor of Kazan called the police and the heads of all responsible structural units to analyze their work and to find more effective methods of prevention of crime among young people. Also, redundancy has played a significant role in the growth of crime - so, according V.Krasilnikov, one and a half thousand people were fired from Kazan departmental security units.

"I thank all police officers who professionally organized work at all events held this year. I am sure that in the future you will do everything possible to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, despite all the difficulties,"- I. Metshin said.
