(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 16, by Albert Murtazin). A "Goodwill Fair: Children to Children" was held in Kazan's Gymnasium No.19 – a charity event, during which the students held a fundraiser to contribute to the A.Vavilova Young Cancer Patient Fund. The charity event was attended by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The organizers of the "Goodwill Fair" were students themselves: a big sale was arranged by the gymnasium, where visitors could contribute to the good cause by buying a variety of products offered by the young sellers. Students made and put up for sale a variety of handicrafts: decoupage vases, scrapbooks, humorous certificates, handmade soap, bracelets, charms, topiary, seedlings and more. Visitors could enjoy traditional Russian, Tatar, Georgian, Armenian, Ingush and other cuisines.
Ilsur Metshin visited a number of themed booths. The mayor bought handmade bracelets, a lamb-shaped bell, a cake baked by a student, and even a Best Actor "Oscar" certificate. "Our children have spent days and even weeks making handicrafts sold at today's fair. It is gratifying that they did it with love, soul, and – most importantly – with the understanding that they were doing good work," opined the mayor of Kazan.
At the end of the official part of the event, the fair organizers handed the keys of the boxes with the proceeds to Vladimir Vavilov, the director of the Angela Vavilova Fund.
The mayor of Kazan said that charity events are held in many educational institutions of the city. "I believe that this initiative will become a good tradition, not only in this school, but in every school of Kazan," said the mayor. He thanked the participants and organizers, and called on all Kazan residents to follow their example and to do good.
