(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 5, by Adelya Galieva) A legendary T-34 tank, a vehicle with its original number that participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War, was placed in the military hardware display area in Kazan's Victory Park. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin acquainted himself with the progress of park renovation, which is due to open on May 9, as well as with the renovated fleet of military hardware in the open-air museum.
The head of the city administration began with an inspection tour of the memorial area, whose renovation has already been completed. The project developers took utmost care of all that was created 20 years ago and updated the area without affecting its original concept. Ilsur Metshin also examined the park entrance, which was updated at veterans' request. Recall that before starting Victory Park renovation last June, city officials briefed representatives of the city veterans' organizations about the project details and listened to their suggestions.
The mayor of Kazan also examined a pavilion containing the four terminals of the electronic "Book of Memory." Its database contains information about the inhabitants of Tatarstan who were called to battle and never returned home.
The open-air museum of military hardware has been enriched with a new exhibit – the legendary T-34 tank built in 1940. "It is exactly what Victory Park was missing! It is symbolic that the tank was placed on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Victory. It's a good gift to our veterans," said the mayor, noting that the tank has its original number, in other words, it is a real battle tank which forged the Victory.
Locals and visitors to the capital of Tatarstan will be able to appreciate the renovated park in a few days; large-scale celebrations are planned for Victory Day. These will include grand opening of the memorial area, laying flowers at the Eternal Flame and the opening of the "Book of Memory" pavilion.
