(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 7, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited war veteran Yuri Ivanovich Barannikov on the eve of 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Yuri Barannikov was conscripted August 24, 1942. He served in the motorized infantry, after being wounded, as a driver. The soldier welcomed Victory Day – May 9, 1945 – in Latvia.
In peacetime, Yuri Ivanovich worked for a long time in construction. From 1970 to 1985, he headed the construction management of Kazan. With his participation, millions of square meters of housing and dozens of social facilities were built in Vostochnoye Zarechye, Tankodrom, Gorki, etc. "To me, you are a senior comrade and a great authority," said the Mayor of Kazan.
