(Kazan KZN.RU, April 28, by Zilya Gafiyatullina) A competition “Kazan Highlights" within the framework of the Year of Culture starts in Kazan. Residents are invited to select views to be placed on transit maps and make their own suggestions.
During today’s Business Monday meeting, Chairman of the Committee on Transport of the Executive Committee Idar Abdulhakov said that the contest was organized in order to improve Kazan’s attractiveness to tourists and promote urban public transportation. The “Transport Card" company started producing a series of electronic cards with images of historical and architectural attractions of the city and of the republic. Seven variants of cards with views of Kazan, Sviyazhsk and Bulgar have been made so far.
Fifteen of the most striking monuments of culture, architecture and nature of the capital of Tatarstan have been selected. According to the results of the contest, 10 winning sights will be placed on transit maps for distribution to Kazan visitors, locals and tour operators.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin praised the creative approach to issuing the cards with historical monuments and encouraged Kazan residents to take an active part in the voting.
