(KZN.RU, September 2, by Renat Shirmanov) First Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Preparation and Holding of the 2013 World University Summer Games Igor Shuvalov was awarded the order "For Services to the Republic of Tatarstan" and the badge of "Honorary Citizen of Kazan".
The city and state awards ceremony was held in Kazan City Hall. The event was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin.
"Holding the World Student Games was made possible only thanks to the support of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. The Universiade served as a powerful stimulus for the development of sports in Tatarstan, promotion of healthy lifestyle and construction activity," said the President of Tatarstan.
Ilsur Metshin presented Igor Shuvalov with the badge "Honorary citizen of Kazan". The First Deputy Prime Minister was thus honored for his outstanding contribution to the socio -economic development and prosperity of Kazan, raising the city profile and improving the image of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia and on the international arena.
"For me it's a huge honor. Over the five years of our collaboration, Kazan has changed beyond recognition. I'd like to say thank you for the grand event we have presented to our country," said the Mayor.
In response, Igor Shuvalov, thanked all those who took part in the preparation and conduct of the 2013 World University Summer Games. "The people of Tatarstan spared no effort to bring glory to our entire country. I can only wish that you could maintain the high standards. The republic has a great future and a lot of work ahead. Many are able to destroy, not build. In Tatarstan you know how to be creative. Thank you for working with us," said Igor Shuvalov.
