(KZN.RU, June 10, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) The first day of the exercises "The Four Days of the Universiade" showed that the movement of the competitors created virtually no problems for city residents. This assessment was given today by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at a Business Monday meeting of the Executive Committee.
"If we had not announced the start of the exercise, I think that 99% of Kazan residents would not know that a full day of training had been held on Saturday. The traffic was not impacted," said I. Metshin.
Recall that on Saturday, June 8, the first of "The Four Days of the Universiade" exercises was held in the capital of Tatarstan, The events of July 12 were rehearsed on that day. The exercises were held at 24 sports venues, and some 800 people were involved.
"We fully rehearsed the situation in which we will find ourselves on July 12,” said I. Metshin. “We have tested the interaction of all the services, rehearsed the participants' arrival, traffic police actions, going through metal detectors, nutrition, utility and public health services."
The head of the city said that on the first day of the exercises both normal procedures and specially arranged contingencies were rehearsed, and that "those in charge responded in a timely and appropriate manner".
