Renovation of school canteens is underway in Kazan. By the beginning of the school year, renovation work will be completed at 11 schools of the city. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of renovation work at the school № 180 in the Sovetsky city district. To date, 70% of the renovation work has been completed at the school.
“Along with the educational process, the health of children is our top priority. An important component is healthy nutrition at school canteens, so we pay systematic attention to this issue. This year, we are renovating 11 canteens, which will increase their seating capacity by 152. Ventilation system will be renovated here, equipment will be completely replaced, and dining rooms will become more spacious. Our goal is to provide children with delicious and healthy food,”- said Ilsur Metshin.
The school № 180 was built in 2017. Ilya Korotikhin, Director of the Department of Maintenance of Social Institutions, explained that the main work is carried out at food halls with an area of 360 square meters. The ventilation system was improved to cope with the increased volume of air exchange. During the renovation, construction workers dismantled and laid new utilities, replaced wall tiles, increasing its height to the ceiling in accordance with modern sanitary standards, and expanded the area for washing dishes by redeveloping adjacent rooms.
A separate logistics was implemented for transporting clean dishes from the washing area to the cooking area.
After the renovation is completed, the kitchen unit will be equipped with professional appliances: new steam convectors, a cleaning machine, modern systems for transporting dishes, production tables, and metal shelving.
The transformation will also affect the dining space with an area of 800 sq. m. Wall decoration is being updated, new ergonomic furniture is being installed, new sinks and hand dryers will appear. The capacity of the hall allows serving 408 children at the same time.
Rima Mukhamedshina, Director of the Department of Food and Social Nutrition, noted that the goal of modernization is not only to improve the technical base, but also to create a culture of healthy and balanced nutrition among schoolchildren.
