In 2026, special events are planned in Kazan to strengthen historical memory and support the continuity of generations. Azat Abzalov, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, shared plans on implementation a patriotic program dedicated to the Year of Military and Labor Valor at the 7th session of the Kazan City Duma.
“The Year of Military Labor Valor is not only about the past, but about us, about our responsibility today. It is on the way we work and treat each other, how we raise our children. I believe that together we can make this year truly meaningful - with respect for history and faith in our bright future, – commented Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan. – I ask the Executive Committee to pay special attention to the improvement of memorials, and military graves. It is our duty to keep them in decent condition so that every resident and guest of the city can learn the history, feel the power and the truth.”
A memorial area dedicated to the participants of the special military operation will open in Victory Park. In addition, the city will perpetuate the memory of outstanding figures - Ildus Mostyukov, the Hero of Socialist Labor and the legend of Soviet science. The renovation of the memorials will continue throughout the year.
The city will continue to renovate memorial sites and hold regular patriotic events, including “Candle of Memory”, Pictures of war” and “Memory Watch” at the Eternal Flame.
The Year of Military and Labor Valor will be marked in the urban environment: public transport stops, metro stations and buses will be decorated in a single thematic style.
The key events of the year, including the Student Spring festivals and the Mayor's Ski Race Cup, will be held under the auspices of the Year of Military and Labor Valor.
Special attention will be paid to educational work: thematic stands and museum corners will be installed at schools, and career guidance classes and excursions will be organized for students.
