Emergency restoration work launched at a house on Teatralnaya Street
(KZN.RU, November 30, by Alisa Rozanova) The new owner of the former building of the Krasnaya Tatariya newspaper intends to restore the facade and roof by the summer of 2013. Investor Shamil Yusupov told Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin about this during the latter's inspection of the historical city center.
Ilsur Metshin stressed that although Yusupov became the owner only a short while ago, the changes to the building are obvious. "Some tried to convince us that this building was not subject to restoration, but now we can see that this is not so," said the mayor.
The two-story brick building at Dzerzhinsky and Teatralnaya streets was built in 1869 by architect Anikin and belonged to collegiate secretary Konstantin Yushkov. The object of national importance has been on the register of the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan as "The former building of the Krasnaya Tatariya newspaper, visited by Vladimir Mayakovsky January 20, 1927".
