(KZN.RU, November 26, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) In order to maintain high rates of housing construction, Kazan will have to actively use new territories: abandoned industrial areas and substandard and private housing. This was said at a Business Monday by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
According to the first deputy head of the Executive Committee Azat Nigmatzyanov, the total amount of housing construction in Kazan will exceed for the first time in history one million square meters this year.
He expressed confidence that such indicators will ensure Kazan's leading position in housing construction among the Volga Federal District cities and stay in the top three of Russia's megalopolises, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin noted that throughout the world one of the basic economic indicators is the number of completed dwellings. "One million square meters of housing is certainly an achievement. It means thousands of happy families and an improvement in the demographic situation in the city,” said the mayor.
