Today, the Mayor
of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin has chaired the first meeting to discuss
the projects of the open All-Russian contest for the best design of four
stations of the second metro line: “100th anniversary of the TASSR”, “Akademicheskaya”,
“Zilant” and “Tulpar”.
“The future of
Kazan is closely linked with the development of public transport and this is a
system-wide work for us, - the Mayor stressed. - Of course, the second metro
line will significantly improve the transport accessibility of the city's
districts. For thousands of people, trips will become faster, more convenient, it
will allow to reduce traffic on the roads and no doubt to improve life of the
whole city”.
The contest
started on May 2 and ended on June 5. In total, 24 applications were received
from various architectural teams from Kazan, Moscow and St. Petersburg, 17 of
which sent design projects. Ilsiyar Tukhvatullina, the chief architect of
Kazan, noted that this is the first contest held by the Institute of City
Development. “We hope that this practice will continue when developing other
architectural projects in Kazan”, - she said.
During the
presentations, Ilsur Metshin noted that Kazan architects also took part in the
contest. “The more we attract residents to the creation of the urban
environment, the higher the level of involvement, interest of people in the
development and study of the history of their city,” - he noted. For example,
the jury received a voluminous essay describing the design concept of the
Akademicheskaya station from Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate
Professor of the Department of Kazan State Technological University Yevgeny
Grigoriev, the Mayor added.
When developing
design projects, the following criteria were taken into account: compliance
with the requirements of comfort and safety for passengers, the best use of
station space, a harmonious combination of the interior with the context of the
surrounding space and the district, the use of modern technologies taking into
account the installation of wayfinding elements.
