The results of
the internship project for students at the Mayor’s Office were summed up in
Kazan. Thirty students of universities and colleges got acquainted with the
work of the Executive Committee and the Mayor's Office of Kazan. The result of
the training intensive was 14 youth city initiatives put forward – the most
interesting of them were presented by students to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur
Metshin at a meeting in the pavilion of the Black Lake Park. Ten best interns will go to Moscow to get
acquainted with the work of the government of the capital.
Today's meeting
with the head of the city has become a kind of graduation for the first interns
of the Kazan Mayor’s Office who have completed their studies. Students had a
unique opportunity to reinforce their knowledge during the practical part by
visiting enterprises and municipal facilities. “You have come a long way. I am
sure that you have learnt a lot during your internship at the Executive
Committee. Municipal service is a serious challenge and a difficult road, it
requires loving the city and the citizens with all your heart. If you are ready
for this, welcome to the team”, - I.Metshin addressed the graduates.
During the
internship, students learnt about the activities of the municipality in many
areas – from landscaping to the work of public transport. Students received
theoretical knowledge directly from the heads of Executive Committee
departments. In addition, the interns
had a unique opportunity to reinforce their knowledge during a 48-hour
practical training, visiting enterprises and municipal facilities – thermal
power plant, centralized accounting, Gorvodzelenkhoz and waste distribution
station.
“You have
visited municipal enterprises, talked with managers, learnt about a work of the
thermal power plant and much more. There is a big difference in what you
expected to see and the actual work. Therefore, it is important for us to know
what ideas you can offer for the improvement and development of Kazan”, - the Mayor
said.
As a result,
students developed 14 youth initiatives during a team work. According to Karina Matveeva, despite the
competition, all interns were united by one goal – to make Kazan even better.
Among the proposed initiatives are the “You
Are Important” project for working with troubled teenagers, the creation of
volunteer centers, the vocational guidance of schoolchildren, the information
on the location of sports venues, for the development of a separate waste collection
system, for the improvement of the Lokomotiv beach, for the creation of a film
industry academy and an e-sports school, for changes in the legislative acts
regulating the work of public transport, on the creation of the Information Policy
Department at the Executive Committee, on improving the architectural
appearance of the city, on popularizing the game Go, for creation a channel of
communication between the municipality and the residents “the Voice of Kazan”, for installation QR stands
with information for tourists on the streets of the city.
“A journey of a
thousand miles begins with a single step. Desire, goal setting and systematic
work are very important”, - the Mayor of Kazan noted. According to him, some of
the initiatives are already familiar to the municipality, and some ideas were
heard for the first time and will be taken into account in the work of the
Executive Committee.
After the presentation
of the projects, I.Metshin answered the students' questions. At the end, he
handed the graduates certificates and took a photo with them.
