From the beginning of the year, they won 5 golden, 4 silver, 6 bronze medals. And according to the results of the All-Russian Olympiad, Kazan became one of the three leading cities along with Moscow and St. Petersburg. Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, announced this at the Business Monday today.
In total, 1843 students took part in the regional stage of the Olympiad. This year, 520 Kazan schoolchildren became winners of republican Olympiads, and 459 of the regional stage of the All-Russian Olympiad, reported I. Khidiyatov. According to the results of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiads, Kazan has traditionally entered the top three after Moscow and St. Petersburg.
“The share of the prize-winners of Kazan is almost 2 times higher than St. Petersburg”, said the speaker. “7 out of 9 absolute Tatarstan winners are Kazan students. All winners of the final stage can enroll in any Russian university without examinations for directions corresponding to the profile of the Olympiad”. Another 7 students became winners of international competitions, he added.
99 Kazan schools have trained the prize-winners of the Olympiad movement this year, 23 of them are the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad.
According to the final stage, the results improved in 12 subjects. But there are no winners in the French language, technology, physical culture for now.
“I want to thank all the teachers and principals for the tremendous work they are doing. The results speak for themselves”, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. “Raising children is hard work. Over 100000 children come to our schools every day for knowledge, and the teacher plays a key role in their lives”.
In conclusion, the Mayor wished success to the Kazan graduates, who this year begin the final examination on May 24.
