January 24, Alina Berezhnaya). Today in Kazan, a countdown stela until the
start of the WorldSkills Championship and the arrival of its first participants
has opened on Bauman Street. Tatiana Golikova, the deputy prime minister,
Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan,
Simon Bartley, the President of WorldSkills International, Robert Urazov, the
general director of WorldSkills Russia, Alexey Likhachev, the general director
of the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”, simultaneously pressed the
launch button.
Tatiana
Golikova noted the high significance of the championship for the popularization
of working professions. “You know that recently the Government of Russia pays
great attention to working professions. This championship is another
opportunity for young people to express themselves”, said T. Golikova and
congratulated Kazan on holding such large-scale competitions.
Rustam
Minnikhanov, the President of the RT thanked the Government of the Russian
Federation and the President of the country for the trust and opportunity to
hold a world championship in the republic. “After 200 days, guests will start
coming to us. We have to meet them with dignity, show our hospitality, our
traditions. I wish success to us all”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.
1264 days
have passed from the moment Kazan received the right to host the WorldSkills
Championship. And only 209 days remain before the start of the opening ceremony
of the competitions, said Simon Bartley, the president of WorldSkills International.
“WorldSkills shows how young people’s skills and abilities can change their
lives. Every time you walk here and see this watch, think about it. WorldSkills
is of great importance for a huge number of young people”, he added.
After that,
the guests launched a countdown clock until WorldSkills. Also, another
ambassador of the championship of working professions has been presented on
Bauman Street today. It was Konstantin Ivlev, a Russian chef and TV presenter.
The 45
Championship WorldSkills-2019 will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August.
More than 1600 contestants from more than 60 countries of the world will take
part in it. They will compete in 56 competencies.
