(KZN.RU, October 17). Tatarstan is interested in attracting Finnish business and funds. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, announced this today by at the opening of the business forum “Finnish Business in Kazan”, the largest annual event of the Russian-Finnish business. The forum is organized in Kazan at the site of the GTRK “Korston”. Mikko Hautala, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Finland to the RF, took part in the event.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Roman Shaikhutdinov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Information and Communications, Irek Faizullin, the minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the RT, Albert Karimov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Industry and Trade, Sergey Ivanov, the chairman of the State Council of the RT on Tourism, Taliya Minullina, the head of the Investment Development Agency of the RT, and others also took part in the forum.
After welcoming the participants and guests of the business forum, R. Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Russia and Finland for supporting joint projects and initiatives. Finland is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan, emphasized the President of the RT. Thus, the volume of mutual trade grew by 50% following the results of last year.
There are all conditions for the dynamic development of all-round interaction between Tatarstan and Finland, believes the President of the RT. For about 20 years, a representative office of Tatarstan has been operating in Finland. In different years, business delegations headed by ministers and representatives of the Finnish government have visited the republic. There is a Tatarstan-Finnish working group on trade and economic cooperation, whose next meeting is scheduled to be held in Finland in December.
According to the press service of the President of the RT, R. Minnikhanov marked that the Finnish business is successfully working in Tatarstan, helping to implement important social and economic projects. Today, there is a significant potential for expanding our cooperation in the field of industrial modernization, information, and communication technologies, energy, engineering, and machine-tool construction, construction, woodworking, agriculture, education, and other fields. It is necessary to look for new ways to increase cooperation. First of all, there are all opportunities for localization of business in the region. 4 cities of the republic received the status of PSEDA. There are two special economic zones (“Alabuga” and “Innopolis”), technology parks and industrial sites, industrial parks in the territory of all municipalities of the republic. “In my opinion, now is the most opportune time for the Finnish business to come to us”, concluded the President of the RT.
