Ilsur Metshin visited the renovated teenage club “Arena”

(KZN.RU, November 23, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the renovated teenage club “Arena” on Simonov Street, №6. Now the children will be able to visit here not only traditional sections but also engage in 3d modeling, robotics, intellectual games, and master fencing skills.

Repair in the building of the club “Arena”, built in 1992, started in the spring. During this time, water supply, sewerage, heat supply, and electrical equipment were replaced there, repair of the roof, façade, and entrance was made, the emergency exit was replaced. In addition, finishing work was carried out.

The name of the teenage club was chosen for a reason. Initially, its main focus was on sports. In particular, there was a section of karate before the repair. In addition, the students of the club were engaged in choreography, vocals, breakdance, OFP, and in a creative studio. Elmira Derbina, the deputy director of the MBT “Teenager”, told that the coverage of children was up to 300 people. After the repair, it is planned that the number of pupils will grow to about 700 people, which is more by 2 times. According to her, new areas will be developed along with sports.

The fencing section will appear in the club. Now training in this kind of sport is conducted only in the Republican specialized children's and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve on fencing. Ilya Mokretsov, the head of the ANO “Fencing Center of Kazan”, noted that the interest in this area is great so the idea arose to develop it in different areas of Kazan.

During the Mayor's visit, the training took place in the hall. Children are engaged in fencing for 4 years. Ilsur Metshin asked the head of the section how much the conditions in the hall meet the requirements necessary for this sport. “This is enough for beginners”, explained Ilya Mokretsov. He said that now there is enrolling in the section, the relevant ads are placed in neighboring schools. Girls and boys from the age of 7 can learn to fence.

Ilsur Metshin noted that Kazan has its own glorious fencing traditions. “The Kazan school of fencing has always been very strong. We had our Olympic champions who glorified not only Kazan but also the country”, reminded the Mayor. According to him, young athletes have an example to take. “This will be the most important gift for me when I hear about your successes first in the Volga region, then in Russia, Europe, and the world”, marked the Mayor. “We will monitor your progress and help you”, he added and gave helmets and equipment to pupils.

At this time, there were training on sambo and karate in other classes, the Mayor of Kazan talked to the trainers. Hand-to-hand combat, taekwondo, work-out, rhythmic gymnastics, modern dances are among the sections that are planned to be opened.

During the visit, the Mayor also examined the theater studio and the cabinet, where the young children were engaged in speed-cubing, one of the areas of intellectual games. A pupil of the school №62 Karim showed the Mayor his skill, his record for collecting a Rubik’s cube is 41 seconds. Shamil Nigmatullin, the head of the intellectual games department, told I. Metshin about various techniques that allow succeeding in speed-cubing. He also appealed to the Mayor with a proposal to hold a European Speed-cubing Championship in Kazan. Such competitions in Russia have not yet been conducted. “I support this initiative”, replied the Mayor.

This year, 8 teenage clubs were repaired according to the republican program in Tatarstan. In addition, another 2 clubs “Vitamin” and “Jalil” were updated at the expense of investors. Recently, the youth club “Avangard” started operating in its full power in the Sovetsky district of Kazan after the renovation.
