The meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation of the Victory Day was held in Kazan

(KZN.RU, May 8). Today Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, held a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event was held in the Government House of the RT.

“The last preparations for the events in honor of the Great Victory Day are held in all regions and cities of the republic. Obelisks and monuments were put in order in every settlement and meetings with veterans were organized. A lot of work is carried out in the field of health care and social protection. I would like to express special words of gratitude to the heads of enterprises who do not leave their veterans without attention”, said the President of Tatarstan in his opening speech.

Rustam Minnikhanov marked that it is necessary to work with veterans everywhere in no holiday time as well: “This category of people should be under a special control. Because, unfortunately, every year 10 thousand people die, the ranks of our veterans are thinning”.

“Our task is to preserve the memory of the participants in the war and the workers of the rear for the following generations as much as possible”, the President said.

Vasil Shaikhraziev, the deputy Prime Minister of the RT, made the main report. He said that today 54 thousand 844 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the widows of the deceased, as well as 2.553 participants and disabled veterans, live in Tatarstan.

Active work to provide veterans with comfortable housing continues in the republic. About 20 billion rubles have been received and disbursed from the federal budget since the beginning of the implementation of this program. 19 thousand veterans of the war are registered as those who need better housing conditions, 18.971 of them have been notified of the allocation of subsidies. Only 29 veterans with unsecured housing remain in the republic, taking into account the funds, allocated in 2017.

“Since 2014 to the present, the repair of 1326 living quarters, in which veterans of the Great Patriotic War live, was carried out by the forces of municipal regions with the involvement of concerned sponsors. This year the work continues”, said Vasil Shaikhraziev.

According to the speaker, a great attention is paid to social services for veterans. Almost 30% of the total number of serviced at home in the first quarter of 2017 are veterans of the Great Patriotic War and equated to them. For 4 months of 2017, 107 veterans were accepted for social services.

Akhat Yulashev, the Major General, the chairman of the Public Organization Committee of Veterans of the War and Military Service of the RT, Ilshat Gafurov, the rector of the Kazan Federal University, Sergei Rakovets, the general director of the AO “Kazan Optical and Mechanical Plant”, and others also spoke during the meeting .

Alexei Pesoshin, the Prime Minister of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Office of the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Shamil Gafarov, the deputy Prime Minister of RT and the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT, heads of republican ministries and departments, Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and the press service of the President of the RT took part in the meeting.
