The VII Congress of Muslims of Tatarstan was held in Kazan
(KZN.RU, April 17). The VII Congress of Muslims of Tatarstan was held in Kazan. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, over 1200 imams from all over the republic, heads of ministries and departments, heads of municipalities took part in the event on the stage of GTRK “Korston”.
The head of the republic addressed the participants of the congress with a welcoming speech. He noted that many changes took place in the republic for the last 4 years. But the main result of the work is that it was possible to preserve interethnic and inter-confessional peace and harmony in the region. This is a pledge of further positive development. “The figures of the Muslim Religious Board of Tatarstan made a great contribution to this matter”, emphasized R. Minnikhanov.
The President of the RT stated that all the necessary conditions for the preservation of religion, the native language, and traditions were created in the republic today. According to him, great attention is paid to the revival of religious objects. The complex of the Galeevskaya Mosque was restored earlier.
R. Minnikhanov noted that the preparation of imams is of special importance in modern conditions. The active construction of the Bulgarian Islamic Academy is being conducted today in the Spassky region in order to meet this global challenge. “This is a federal project. The Academy will become a religious and spiritual educational center supporting the true values of Islam”, said the President of the RT.
R. Minnikhanov highly estimated the activities of Kamil Khazrat Samigullin and the Muftiate as a whole. “I hope that we will continue to work productively together for the benefit of the people of our republic, peace, and prosperity in Tatarstan”, the Tatarstan Government Portal quotes the words of the President.
