(KZN.RU, August 16,by Ekaterina Andreeva). Outdoor advertising in Kazan is to undergo changes that will make this kind of business more transparent and civilized, and the city more attractive.
At present, a new scheme of outdoor advertising and information is being developed in Kazan. According to it, no free-standing advertising installations larger than10 sq.m will remain within the boundaries of the historic city center. First of all, 3x6 meter billboards will be removed from Yarmarochnaya, Tashayak, Moskovskaya and Said-Galeev streets. Large advertising structures will be replaced by smaller signs (pylons and pillars) and cityboads.
In other parts of the city, outdoor advertising will be relocated. In particular, all banners over roadways, signs on the dividing line, advertising at civil engineering structures (bridges, intersections, pedestrian crossings, etc.) will be removed.
Implementation of the new scheme is scheduled to begin in September 2012, after the current permits have expired.
"The historic city center is not a flea market to generate unregulated revenue. There is the protected zone of the Kremlin, there are monuments and notable structures which cannot be covered by advertising signs," commented I. Metshin.
