November 3). The exhibition, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Institute
of History named after Sh. Marjani of the Academy of Sciences, opened in the
State History Museum of the Tatar people and Tatarstan. Rustam Minnikhanov, the
President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Counsellor of Tatarstan,
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited today the exhibition “100 books on
the history of Tatars and Tatarstan”.

Khakimov, the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences, the director of the
Institute of History named after Sh Marjani of the AN RT, briefed the guests on
the exhibition. Thus, the scientists of the Institute have released more than
1,000 monographs for 20 years of scientific activity. Works such as atlases
series “Tartarica” and “Bulgarica” are among them – this is the result of
fundamental and applied research of the Institute of History. The first volume
of the “History of the Western Urals Tatars”, teamwork “Golden Horde in the
history of the world”, published in cooperation with the University of Oxford,
the first volume of the “Vault of historical and cultural monuments of the
Crimean Tatar people” and others saw the light this year.
Such works
as “The History and Culture of West Siberian Tatars”, scientific publications
“Crimean historical Survey”, “Golden Horde Survey”, “Kryashen historical
Survey” are also represented at the exhibition.

Khakimov noted that about 150 the most important and foreground books are
presented in the exhibition.
Mintimer
Shaimiev, the State Counsellor of Tatarstan, marked the effectiveness of the
Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani. He also stressed that the seven
volumes of “History of Tatars since antiquity” is a huge work of all the
scientific team.
Rustam
Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, congratulated the staff of the
Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani of Academy of Sciences of the RT
on the occasion. “Everyone should know their history”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.
“If you do not know the history, you cannot plan for the future”.
Rustam
Minnikhanov also presented the state awards of the RT to the staff of the
Institute of History named after Marjani. Rafael Khakimov, the director of the
Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani, was awarded with the medal “For
service to the Republic of Tatarstan”.
Employees
of the Institute of History named after Marjani awarded for worthy contribution
to the development and popularization of the history of the Tatar people with
state awards of the RT. Authors of the seven volumes of “History of Tatars
since antiquity” are from the staff of the Institute, reports the press-service
