KZN.RU, 16 May). Activities such as "Kazan marathon" work on the
tourism potential of the capital of Tatarstan. Athletic event should not only
be traditional, but be sure to grow in the number of participants, the quality
and in the level of organization. This was announced today at the Business
Monday in the Executive Committee of the city by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin,
commenting on the results of the marathon, which was held on May 15th.
I. Metshin
said that races at a distance of 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km and 3 km were attended
by 8819 people. Also the Mayor of Kazan said that the head of the Executive
Committee of Kazan Denis Kalinkin overcame the half-marathon distance (21.1 km)
for 1 hour 50 minutes 56 seconds. "Believe me, it's hard. I speak as
someone who has run 3 km,"- the Mayor shared. The Mayor noted that the
race was attended by representatives of other Russian cities and abroad.

noted that the marathon is the same property and the sign of quality of the city,
as the presence of Federal University's, own symphony orchestra and opera
house. "Marathon is what any city is proud of. We will do everything to
catch up to Boston and New York marathons. For this we need the desire and a
little time", - I. Metshin said.

"Kazan marathon 2016" was held on May 15th. Start at a distances of
42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km and 3 km has been given at the stadium "Kazan
Arena". In the race to mark the International Day of AIDS Memorial, was
attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister Ildar
Khalikov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Assistant to Prime Minister of RF Gennady
Onishchenko and others.
