I. Metshin participated in laying flowers at the Eternal Flame in Victory Park
(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 9). Tribute to the Heroes of the Fatherland, who fell for the freedom and independence of the country, was paid in Kazan. Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, who is in Kazan with a working visit, visited the memorial "Memory Book" and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame in the Victory Park. The ceremony of laying flowers to the Eternal Flame was also attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
February 28, 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the initiative of Russian parliamentarians to establish anniversary on December 9 - the Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland. On this day people in Russia remember the fallen heroes and those who remained on the battlefield. Date is dedicated to the outstanding event of the reign of Empress Catherine II - in 1769 she established the Order of St. George. It is awarded to soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle.
A concert dedicated to the celebration of the Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland will be the main event of the series of commemorative events in Kazan. It will take place in the Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet. The audience of the concert will be the Heroes of the Fatherland, who live in the Volga Federal District.
