I. Metshin: "Poetry and prose should sound in the Aksenov Square"

Mayor Ilsur Metshin congratulated residents and guests of capital of Tatarstan with the opening of the park, which is named after the famous Russian writer and a native of the city.

As the head of the city noted, the opening of new parks is a great tradition. "I am very pleased that in the frames of the Year of parks and gardens, which was declared by the Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, we were able to upgrade another cozy corner of old Kazan. At the suggestion of friends and colleagues of Vasily Pavlovich park is called the Aksenov Garden ", - said I. Metshin.

It should be noted that the opening of the park was the final point of the festival “Aksenov Fest-2015 ". This year the festival is held for the ninth time. One of the main events of the forum of this year was the jazz and literary presentation of "Anthology of the new Tatar poetry", a book of poetry, a symbiosis of two languages ​​- Russian and Tatar. And today the International Literary Prize "Star Ticket-2015" was awarded in the City Hall.

At the opening of the renewed park coordinator of "Aksenov Fest", the chief editor of "October" magazine Irina Barmetova said that in V.Aksenov’s works nature played a special role - the poet drew parallels between the life of a man and a tree. "Today Kazan gives the garden to Aksenov, where he will always be present, and I hope we will be present too", - said I.Barmetova.

Honorary guests of the opening ceremony started the work of the garden and opened a memorial sign dedicated to Vasily Aksenov. He marked his every manuscript with this sign, which depicts a self-portrait of the poet. "This self-portrait with was made on our eyes at the City Hall on a napkin. And when we were choosing the symbol of the festival, we unanimously came to the conclusion that this sign will embody Aksenov Garden and “Aksenov Fest” itself” - said Ilsur Metshin.

White umbrellas with the logo of the festival also became the symbol of the Aksenov Garden today. With them the guests took part in a kind of flash mob, and then planted some large trees in the park.

"I congratulate all with the opening of the park. Let children, parents, couples, guests walk in this garden, and be sure poetry and prose to sound here"- Ilsur Metshin summed up.

On the occasion of the opening of the garden a concert program took place in an updated green zone. On the stage in front of the "Mir" cinema friend of V.Aksenov, known Soviet and Russian film and theater actor, writer Benjamin Smekhov read the works of the great poet to the sounds of jazz orchestra.

Today a competition for the best sculpture for the Aksenov Garden was announced in Kazan.

Aksenov Square is located at the intersection of streets Lesgaft and Dostoevsky, behind the building of the "Mir" cinema. Landscaping of the park was dedicated to the memory of famous Russian writer Vasily Pavlovich Aksenov. The main compositional axis of the square is the central avenue named after Aksenov. The main scenario of the functioning of the green zone will be creative festivals, including "Aksenov Fest", film screenings, musical evenings, readings, exhibitions of the day. Works on the reconstruction of the park will continue next year.
