(Kazan City
KZN.RU, August 4, Albert Murtazin). Today, world final of the high-diving among
women ended at the competitive platform of the embankment of Kazanka River. The
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and FINA President Julio Maglione handed awards to
winners of competitions in diving with a 20-meter tower.
The
tournament was attended by 9 athletes from 6 countries. Ukrainian athlete Diana
Tomilina, who intended to take part in the final, withdrew her candidacy
because of an injury in training, so 9 of 10 claimed athletes performed at Kazanka.
USA team announced 4 athletes that strengthened its chances for a medal.
As a result
of intense competition, the American Rachel Simpson won. Second place went to
her compatriot Cecilia Karton. The bronze medal was won by the athlete from
Belarus Yana Nesterova.
Tomorrow,
August 5, the final competition in high-diving among men will take place. 20
athletes will be competing in the jump from 27-meter tower, including the
Russians Artem Silchenko and Igor Semashko.
At this
point Russian team is in second place in the medal standing, having 13 awards -
8 gold, 4 silver and one bronze medal.
