(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 12, by Zilya Gafiyatullina). The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Tatarstan returned to Kazan with victory at the 9th Mozart International Music Competition in Prague. It was held from May 6 to 11 as part of the 10th International Festival of Culture and Art "Czech- Russian Dialogue." According to the results of the competition, the orchestra was named the I st degree winner. This was announced by Head of Culture Administration Aigul Gornysheva at today's Business Monday meeting.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Tatarstan, consisting of 63 Kazan music school students aged 9 to 16, presented a solid competitive program. The young musicians performed works by Gluck, Mozart, Bach, Sibelius and Yakhin. Before the trip, the Kazan Municipality financed the purchase of musical instruments for the orchestra.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin congratulated the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan on winning the contest in the Czech Republic. " I congratulate our, in all respects, young orchestra. I remember how a year ago maestro Sladkovsky suggested creating such an orchestra. We were happy to support his initiative, and only a year later the orchestra won a victory at the international level. That says a lot. We will continue to support the talented youth of our capital, " said the mayor.
