(Kazan KZN.RU, April 21, by Zilya Gafiyatullina) Restoration of the buildings of the former Petzold brewery should begin this summer. At today’s Business Monday meeting, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin instructed those responsible at the Executive Committee to issue approval documents for this property by the end of June.
The day before, during their inspection tour of the reconstruction work in the historical part of Kazan, Mayor Ilsur Metshin and President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the complex of buildings of the former Petzold brewery (97 Tukay St.)
The former Petzold brewery was built in the late 19th century. Since then the building has changed its purpose several times. Since the mid-20th century, the "Krasny Vostok" concern produced juices and soft drinks there, following which the building was disused. The last renovation was done in 1975. An agreement on the restoration of the object was signed with the JSC "Edelweiss Group" in May 2012.
Ilsur Metshin noted that the implementation of this exciting project is expected to begin this summer. “Work should be organized in such a way that by the end of June we could start work. Overall, this is a very interesting project, which is expected to include public and recreational areas, elements of landscape design, small apartment complexes, hotels, cafes and restaurants. This project will revive the Old Tatar Settlement while preserving the spirit of old Kazan. I am confident that under favorable economic and political situation in the country, we will fulfill all obligations on the reconstruction of our historical city," said the Mayor.
