(KZN.RU, September 9, by Alisa Rozanova) We have done a lot to restore the historical center of Kazan and invested billions of rubles, but it would be too early to rest on our laurels. There are a few projects that lie ahead: reconstruction of Rakhmatullin Street, Admiralteiskaya Sloboda, the Petzold Brewery, the Chornoye Ozero park and other important objects of cultural heritage, said Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at a Business Monday meeting .
According to the deputy head of the Executive Committee Ruslan Shakirov, the first phase of restoration of the historical part of Kazan has been completed. Some seven billion rubles have been invested in the renovation and restoration, the lion's share of the amount being private investments. "Over the past 2.5 years, restoration of more than 330 buildings in Kazan's historical center started, and the work at 286 sites has been completed," he said.
According to Ruslan Shakirov, restoration of the following major objects through public-private partnerships will begin in the near future: houses on Rakhmatullin Street, the Nobility Hotel and the Petzold Brewery. Also, waiting in line is No. 10 Pushkin Street, in whose wing the legendary basso Chaliapin was born, Admiralteiskaya Sloboda and the Chornoye Ozero park.
Ilsur Metshin supported the initiative to restore the park and suggested that Kazan architects be involved in the project.
"We need to preserve all the historical details of the park and do everything possible to bring the park to life. It must tell the story of Kazan and be filled with new life," said the Mayor.
"City leaders should focus their attention on preserving the historical center of the city. This task is of utmost importance, and it must be implemented systematically," concluded the Mayor.
