Mayor of Kazan: "Kazan is doomed to host world-class sporting events"
(KZN.RU, July 17, by Taisiya Basharkina) Following the Universiade, Kazan will be doomed to host world-class sporting events. This statement was made by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Ilsur Metshin was confident that Kazan would continue to fight for the right to host the world's biggest sporting events, the 2024 Olympic Games being no exception. "The experience of Belgrade, Shenzhen and other Univesiade cities shows that within the next five years they hosted world championships in all sports played at the Universiade. So there is no doubt that we are doomed to host world-class sporting events," said the mayor.
It should be recalled that on August 5th, the FINA (International Swimming Federation) Flag will be brought from Barcelona to Kazan, and in two years, the capital of Tatarstan will host the World Cup in water sports. As Ilsur Metshin pointed out, that championship will surpass the Universiade both in the number of participants and duration.
