Kazan will host the Russia–ASEAN summit on 17 - 19 June. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, announced this at the Business Monday meeting. The Mayor warned about the restrictions on traffic in the city and urged to use Aeroexpress trains for those traveling to the airport.
“Next week will be an extremely responsible week: the participants of the Russia–ASEAN summit are arriving in Kazan tomorrow. The city is fully prepared for this important political event,”- Ilsur Metshin emphasized.
A global political event will take place in Kazan this week, which will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and representatives of 11 countries.
Preparations for the event were carried out in advance. “It's a lot of trust. Every international event of this scale takes Kazan to a new level of hospitality, from the airport to the hotel service. We have done a tremendous job: we have put in order seven highways. New greenhouse of the Gorvodzelenkhoz allowed us to triple the number of flowers planted. It is encouraging that residents and guests are already noticing these changes,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
Last week, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and participants of the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization highly appreciated the organizational efforts of the city. The mayor appealed to Kazan residents to understand the temporary restrictions on traffic on the roads.
Despite the summit, key transport hubs will continue to operate normally.
“It is important to note that the schedule of flights and train services remains unchanged. For those who are planning their trips these days, I recommend to use Aeroexpress when travelling to the airport,”- Ilsur Metshin emphasized.
