(KZN.RU, June 18, by Renat Shirmanov) The experience of the World Summer Student Games to be held in Kazan in 2013 will help the city to host the 2018 World Cup in a proper manner. This was stated by Ilsur Metshin during presentation of the capital of Tatarstan to a FIFA delegation which arrived for an inspection visit. The presentation was held at City Hall.
Specifically, the FIFA delegates were told about the hotel infrastructure, tourism potential, the development of the road network of the capital of Tatarstan, as well as the measures ensuring the safety of the world championship participants and spectators.
Ilsur Metshin noted that the 2013 Universiade would help to Kazan host the 2018 World Cup. If the capital of Tatarstan finds itself among the host cities, then, according to the regulations, the new stadium with a capacity of 45,000 will host the group stage matches, as well as the initial stages of the playoffs.
It may be recalled that at the moment 13 Russian cities are laying claim to hosting the 2018 World Cup. The final list of cities -- the organizers of the World Cup -- will be announced in late September 2012.
