Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, got acquainted with
an improvement project of one of the oldest parks in the city – the Fisherman's
Garden at the Admiralteiskaya Sloboda. Daria Tolovenkova, deputy chief
architect, conducted a tour of the park.
According to the deputy chief architect Daria
Tolovenkova, the idea to improve the garden came up two years ago, when a new
generation library was opened nearby the park, on Klara Zetkin street, 11. “After
this, we wanted the transformation of the Admiralteiskaya Sloboda to continue–
this site required special attention,”- said Daria Tolovenkova.
The garden will be improved in a retro look. According
to the idea of the architects, the public space should take visitors back to
the 70s and 80s of the XIX century. The concept was also supported by local
residents at public hearings that took place this winter. The main focus will
be on the central element of the park – the figure of a fisherman will be
restored on the fountain.
The improvement of the site will be carried out in
several stages. In the first stage, all major utilities will be installed,
asphalt to be replaced, comfortable pedestrian paths will be made, new
functional playground will be equipped. On the territory of the garden, it is
planned to make a zone for different activities.
In the second stage, it is planned to develop convenient
pedestrian connections and sidewalks along the roadways, as well as organize a
food court.
It is planned to start improving the park next year.
