Today, the grand opening of the monument to the Hero of Russia Marat Akhmetshin, who died in June 2016 while fulfilling his military duty in the Syrian Arab Republic, was held on the territory of the school №113 and the school №13. Relatives of the hero, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Vasil Shayrasiev, the deputy prime minister of the RT, and others took part in the solemn ceremony.
Marat Akhmetshin studied at the school №133 from 1988 to 1997. Last year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation for courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the gold star “Hero of Russia”. At the same time, the school was given the name of Hero of Russia Marat Akhmetshin, and it was decided to create the landscaped park with his bust on the territory of the educational institution.
The relatives of Marat Akhmetshin, his parents, wife and son, took part in the opening ceremony. “We are very grateful that you remember our son. I want you to always remember which school you attended, and have the opportunity to say I studied at the school named after Marat Akhmetshin, the Hero of Russia. He was kind, intelligent, he respected by his elders and defended the youngers. He remained faithful to his military duty to the bitter end”, said Radik Akhmetshin, the father of the deceased Hero, to the participants of the solemn meeting.
“The hero of Russia is the highest rank in our country. We are proud of our heroes, we set them as an example to the younger generation. And in this case, opening a monument to our countryman, we once again want to remind you that the feat of Marat Akhmetshin is immortal. Today his parents, relatives, and friends present here. I want to thank you. You raised a beautiful son. His feat will live forever”, said Vasil Shairaziev.
On December 9, the Day of the Heroes of the Patronymic was celebrated in Russia. It is symbolic that the monument, which will perpetuate the memory of one of the heroes of our country, appeared in Kazan at that time, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. “This man accomplished a feat that will perpetuate him in the golden pages of the history of our Homeland. This is a feat of a man who lived among us, worked at the municipal enterprise of Kazan, and nothing gave away that he was a true hero. Today, opening this monument, I want to appeal to our young people, to our children who study in this school and ask them to carry the banner of the Hero of the Russian Federation, our countryman. I want to express my deep respect for the family of Marat Akhmetshin and promise that we will do everything possible so that the memory of him always lives in our hearts”, said I. Metshin. He thanked the staff and teachers of the school for participating in the education of heroic personalities.
The honorary right to open the monument was granted to the Hero's father Radik Akhmetshin and his son Amir Akhmetshin, a cadet of the Kazan Suvorov School. After that, the memory of the deceased was honored with a minute of silence.
Elvira Yunusova, the director of school №113, told that the monument was made as part of the project “Alley of Russian Glory”. “The project manager Mikhail Serdyukov addressed us. He volunteered to make a monument, and this monument was made with the help of his creative team. We are very happy and grateful for his help. Patriotic education is very important. Every child should love their homeland, protect loved ones, relatives, appreciate and respect their parents, this is patriotism. If we remember the heroes who protected us, this is a huge contribution to our future, and not only children, but also adults should remember them”.
The building at Adoratsky Street, №36a, combines two educational institutions: the Tatar-Russian school №113 with an in-depth study of certain subjects and the school №13 with the Tatar language of instruction. The creation of a well-planned square was provided by major repairs, which took place in the school building this summer.
Timur Alibaev, the head of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts’ administration, Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kazan, students of the Tank School, and others took part in the solemn meeting devoted to the opening of the monument.
