(KZN.RU, November 10, by Taisiya Basharkina). All buildings on Karl Marx Street must be lit up. This obligation was laid on property owners by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at today’s meeting of the Board for the Preservation and Development of Kazan’s Historic Center. Besides, the city authorities will regulate the placement of advertising signs on the facades and require moving the air conditioners into the yards.
Prior to the meeting, Ilsur Metshin walked along K. Marx Street from the St. Barbara Church to the intersection with Mislavsky Street and assessed the state of the buildings. "Much had been done on the street for Kazan’s millennium, but a lot remains to be accomplished," said the city head.
Most owners have responded with understanding to the requirements of the municipal authorities. The owners have already included the costs of repairs and lighting in next year’s budget.
Numerous educational institutions are located on K. Marks Street: Kazan Federal University, Agricultural University, Kirov Kazan State Technical University, Tupolev Kazan State Technical University, a ballet school and a branch of Surikov Art Institute. The main requirement for these buildings is their lighting. The facades of Technological University (72 Marx Street) and Kazan Federal University (74 Karl Marx) are in need of repairs.
"In 2013, we’ll have visitors from 180 countries, and we must be prepared for this," summed up Ilsur Metshin.
