(KZN.RU, November 8, by Taisiya Basharkina). The first official skatepark opened in Kazan near the Vatan sports complex behind Victory Park. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in the opening ceremony of the unique open-air sports facility.
Representatives of the "Extreme Factor" sports club suggested to City Hall that a skatepark be built in Kazan. City officials supported the idea and successfully implemented it.
One of the objectives of the new skatepark is to support the growing movement of extreme sports fans. The new complex will become a center of attraction for young people from all over the city; they can hone their bicycle riding, skateboarding and rollerblading skills here.
The skatepark has 14 features designed for BMX bike riding, rollerblading and skateboarding. Admission to the complex is free. The equipment for the park was made by Skpark (Moscow), a leading manufacturer of such complexes in Russia.
According to Ilsur Metshin, at least three more such parks will be built in various parts of the city before the Universiade. "We will create all conditions to promote sports that are popular among the young. If they want to rollerblade, skateboard and ride bicycles, we will support them," concluded the mayor.
It should be noted that today there are at least a thousand young people who are keen on extreme sports in Kazan.
