Tatarstan’s first Auchan hypermarket opened in Kazan
(KZN.RU, October 6). An Auchan hypermarket was opened in Kazan’s South shopping center today. The Grand Opening of the first French chain hypermarket in Tatarstan was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
President of Auchan Russia Francois Colombier said that Auchan Kazan had become the 46th French hypermarket in Russia and 583rd in the world and thanked the leadership of the republic and the city for assistance.
After the symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov, Ilsur Metshin and guests toured the supermarket and got acquainted with the display of dairy, meat and fish products produced in Tatarstan.
For your reference, the French Auchan group is the second-largest retailer on the Russian market. 2010 sales in Russia amounted to 5.87 billion euros. The retail area of the first Auchan hypermarket in Tatarstan is 9.300 square meters. 35 thousand items are available at the store. Over 500 million rubles were invested in the opening of Auchan Kazan.
