(KZN.RU,
November 21, Anton Nozdrin). Possible concepts of improvement of a number of
city streets were presented to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, at the
meeting at the City Executive Committee. Architects and designers presented
projects of small architectural forms and art objects that may appear in Kazan.
Installations and graffiti, dedicated to the upcoming World Cup in Kazan and
the history of Kazan, were among the ideas of a creative group of architects
Julia Yunusova, Maria Melentieva, and Artem Belyaev, an architect-designer, a
member of the Union of Designers of Russia.
Igor
Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the
Committee for External Improvement, Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of
the city, heads of districts’ administrations, head of the Urban Design
Department of the Architecture and Urban Planning Department, Zhanna
Belitskaya, the chief artist of Kazan, Asiya Minullina, a sculptor, and others
took part in the meeting.
Zhanna
Belitskaya presented sketches to the Mayor. According to one of them, the
installation of the Tatar window frame, which at the same time can serve as a
frame for taking photographs, may appear on the territory of the
Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. The architects suggested creating a whole group of
small sculptures on Mardzhani street: figures of Tatar old men and women, girls
with chak-chak. According to the authors, they will symbolize the history of
the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. The Mayor of Kazan positively assessed the project
and marked that sculptural forms should carry informational, historical, and
educational meaning.
In
addition, the architects proposed to install an installation in the green zone
near the Kremlin: the inscription “Russia-2018” and balls scattered around,
dedicated to the upcoming World Cup. I. Metshin noted that it is necessary to
make several photo areas for the fans before the tournament, one of which will
be this installation. According to the head of the city, photo areas can also
be placed near the stadium “Kazan Arena” on the way to the object and near the
Family Center “Kazan”, where the fan zone will be located. The Mayor instructed
Zhanna Belitskaya to work out this issue in detail.
The
creative group also offered different variants of art objects for different
districts of the city. For example, the sculptures of a pioneer boy launching a
paper plane in the Aviastroitelny district, or a tulip, one of the symbols of
the Universiade-2013 and an element of national ornament.
I. Metshin
instructed to work out projects in detail with reference to the location of
objects. The discussion of ideas will be continued in the future.
