The Russian national football team played a draw with Iran at the “Kazan Arena”

The first half of the friendly match took place was an equal fight. Russian players had some good approaches to the opponent's penalty area but they never managed to open the score.

In the second half of the match, the teams led the game more intensively. Due to this, the guests managed to score the first goal in the match in one of the counterattacks in the 57th minute. The gate of the Russian national team, which Andrey Lunev defended this evening, was struck by Serdar Azmun, the Iranian forward and the Kazan player of “Rubin”.

After the missed goal, Russian players significantly increased the pressure to defeat their opponents, and Stanislav Cherchesov, the coach of the team, made several substitutions, which empowered the attack. At the 74th minute, Dmitry Poloz after the serve from the flank of Alexander Samedov equalized the score in the match. The Russians continued to push the remaining 20 minutes of the game but the score in the match didn’t change.

Both teams will participate in the upcoming World Cup in 2018. Russia is on the rights of the host country of the tournament, Iran qualified for the championship through selection in the Asian region. In October, the Russian team has already held a friendly match. In Moscow on October 7, Russian football players defeated the South Korean team with a score of 4:2.
