The Kazan rock school “The Road” celebrated its birthday with a big concert

(KZN.RU, September 15, Anton Nozdrin). The Kazan rock school “The Road” celebrated its eighth birthday. The concert was held in honor of the celebration in the KRK “Pyramid”, in which the students of the first professional school of rock music in Russia, Andrey Sapunov, the legend of Russian rock, and the band “On The Go” took part.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, congratulated on the occasion. The head of the city reminded that the school was organized in 2009. “Only 8 years ago, we started a wonderful business. And great talents are already on the stage and how many talented people graduated from the rock school and please us with their successes and music”, said the Mayor. He noticed that the moment he crossed the threshold of the Pyramid he felt the atmosphere of rock. According to him, the rock history of the USSR and Russia has glorious traditions that need to be preserved and passed on. “I want that there will be more talented children and Kazan to have every opportunity to discover these talents. I want to do everything to ensure that rock and roll in Kazan and the rock school prosper”, said the Mayor.

Ilsur Metshin reminded the pupils of the school, their parents and fans of music that two years ago he together with Andrey Sapunov opened a new school building. Then, the famous musician said that he had already performed several times at the rock school “The Road”. “I'm practically a native person in Kazan, and this school is also mine. Happy holiday!”, A. Sapunov congratulated the students. After that, the guests of honor presented the school with a guitar and a bass guitar.

The young pupils of the school gave the Mayor a CD with their works. All the songs were recorded in the studio of the school. The head of the city signed on one of the discs, which will remain in school.

The concert continued with the performance of musicians. The pupils of the school performed both their works and the legendary songs of famous rock musicians: Smoke on the Water, Sharp Dressed Man, and others. Young pupils of the school pleased the audience with the premiere as well. They together with singer Elmira Kalimullina presented one of the episodes of the Tatar children's rock opera “Ebi-Patsha”. Children of all ages, along with professionals, participate in the production of the opera. Composer Elmir Nizamov creates music, Renat Haris, a People's Poet of the RT, writes the libretto. Andrey Sapunov also took part in it.

The rock school “The Road” was organized in 2009. Since 2015, it functions as an independent institution. “The Road” is the first professional school of rock music in Russia. The grand opening of the school with the participation of Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Andrey Sapunov, the legend of Russian rock, and the band “Voskreseniye” took place on September 15,

The opening of the school in Kazan and its further development became the impetus for the appearance of such projects throughout Russia. The Kazan rock school is supported by famous musicians. They are such leaders of Russian rock as Boris Grebenshchikov and the band “Aquarium”, Sergey Chigrakov and the “Chizh & Co”, Andrey Sapunov and the “Voskreseniye”, Evgeny Khavtan and the band “Bravo”, Vladimir Shahrin and the band “Chaif”, Andrey Makarevich and the band “Mashina Vremeni”, and many others.
