August 29, Anton Nozdrin). Memorial plaques to Gumer Usmanov and Fikrat Tabeev,
state figures of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic, were opened in Kazan in a
solemn ceremony. Signs of memory appeared on the facade of house №65 on
Bolshaya Krasnaya Street. It was the house where leaders of Tatarstan lived for
many years. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Alexey Pesoshin, the
prime minister of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of State Council of
the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, the state councilor of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the
Mayor of Kazan, heads of republican ministries and departments, relatives,
friends, and colleagues of G. Usmanov and F. Tabeev took part in the ceremony.

Minnikhanov noted that G. Usmanov and F. Tabeev created the base that allows
Tatarstan to be competitive. “We should always remember people who have made a
huge contribution to the development of our republic. The huge contribution
made by Gumer Usmanov and Fikrat Tabeyev allows us to solve large-scale tasks”,
said the President of Tatarstan.
M. Shaimiev
reminded that the century of Tatarstan's formation will be celebrated in 2020.
“Usmanov and Tabeev worked side by side. They laid all the hardships of that
political life and social system upon themselves and were able to defend the
interests of the republic. They made it all possible. They laid the foundation
for all the main industries, which today are crucial for the further development
of Tatarstan”, said the state councilor of the RT. M. Shaimiev noted that G.
Usmanov and F. Tabeev were able to defend the interests of the petrochemical
production development, implemented the construction of the Kama Automobile
Plant. “It is very difficult and is worth a lot. Many people sought to defend
the interests of their republic, and Usmanov and Tabeev were successful in it”,
M. emphasized Shaimiev and urged to follow their steps.
Members of
the families of statesmen made a speech in return. Diana, the granddaughter of
F. Tabeev, thanked the audience on behalf of the whole family. “My grandfather
lived in this house a very bright part of life, recalled it often. This time
was full of important events not only for our family but for the whole region.
We are proud to wear the name of the Tabeevs and are grateful that you are
commemorating the memory of him”, she said. Svetlana, the daughter of G.
Usmanov, also thanked the leaders of the republic for the good memory of her
father. She said that her father lived in this house for 42 years, here, he had
both joyful moments (the birth of grandchildren) and sad ones (the death of his
wife). “It is symbolic that two plaques open at once. Gumerov and Usmanov
worked side by side in Kazan for about 15 years. Together they did a lot for
the republic, its economic potential, and cultural life. They remembered each
other for the rest of their lives”, said Svetlana.
After the
solemn ceremony, the participants laid flowers to the memorial plaques.

F.Tabeev,
the first secretary of the Tatar Regional Committee of the CPSU (1960-1979)
played a leading role in the development of machine building, oil industry of
Tatarstan. New oil fields were explored and put into operation under his
leadership, Nizhnekamsk was founded, and the Kamsky Automobile Plant in
Naberezhnye Chelny was built. The “Kazanorgsintez” was launched in Kazan, new
districts of Gorki and Savinovo, the circus, the Sports Palace, the stadium,
the building of the State Council were built.
The
construction of the KAMAZ, the “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”, and the “ElAz” was
active during the years of Gumer Usmanov's work as the first secretary of the
Tatar Regional Committee of the CPSU (1982-1989). The concert hall of the Kazan
State Conservatory, the new building of the Tatar State Academic Theater named
after G. Kamal, the HoC “Himikov”, the Exhibition Hall of the Union of Artists
of the RT were built.
