Landscaping of the Nizhny Kaban Lake embankment began in Kazan

(KZN.RU, April 5, Zilya Gayfi). Works on the implementation of the outline design of the Russian-Chinese consortium “Turenscape + MAP architects” began on the right bank of the Nizhny Kaban lake. The project became the winner of the International competition for the elaboration of the development concept of the Kaban lakes system embankment.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited today the construction site, as well as Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, Natalia Fishman, the assistant of the President of the RT, Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, and others. The project assumes both the preservation of the natural landscape of the territory and the creation of a new recreation zone for the townspeople and includes the improvement of the Kaban lakes system, located on an area of 186 hectares.

The real pearl of Kazan, unique in its scale and age, the lake system should get a decent frame. The “Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt” is working on the design of the embankment on an area of 25.5 hectares in accordance with the design draft of the Russian-Chinese consortium “Turenscape + MAP architects”, taking into account the requirements of modern town-planning standards. The cycling and walking track, the entertainment site “Open street”, and other recreation areas for the citizens are provided in the project on the right bank of the lake embankment from Salimzhanov Street.

Kamil Zakirov, the director of MUE “Urban Development”, reported to the Mayor of Kazan that the site for the piles is organized on the plot, and the tray for the flow of storm water is equipped. In particular, the piling of 35 steel piles for the construction of a platform on the territory of the peninsula and 6 test piles at the Kamal Theater has been completed.

One of the main issues in the first phase is the installation of the sidewalk and the road. The possibility of widening the sidewalk by narrowing the roadway of Salimzhanov Street, restoring the right turn on Aidinov Street (this is necessary for organizing the OpenStreet concept at the weekend), and expanding the embankment by cutting one lane toward the airport or organizing one-way traffic is being discussed for today. Also, the issue of constructing a ground pedestrian crossing in front of the Millennium Park, which is necessary for the restoration of pedestrian communications, is being considered together with the Traffic Police and the Committee for Transport.

“The question on the road is being discussed, we will make a decision. In any case, we need to consider all available options. To squeeze the road is not the best solution with today's road and transport situation”, said Ilsur Metshin.

It is planned to complete the work within the first stage of improving the embankment of Nizhniy Kaban Lake in the second quarter of 2017.

Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, Aidar Abdulkhakov, the chairman of the Transport Committee, Andrei Lobov, the head of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration, Igor Novikov, the head of the Traffic Pplice for Kazan, Adel’ Khusnutdinov, the general director of the SUE “Tatinvesgrazhdanproekt”, and Anna Novikova, the coordinator of the project of improvement, also took part in the meeting.
