(KZN.RU,
April 2). The Kazan “Rubin” lost to St. Petersburg “Zenit” at home in the match
of the 21 round of the Russian Football Championship. The match at the stadium
“Kazan Arena” ended with a score of 2:0. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan and
the president of the FC “Rubin”, watched the game.
Teams
started the match at a high pace. Players attacked a lot, completing approaches
to the gate with strikes. Guests often attacked positionally, while the “Rubin”
responded with sharp counter-attacks. Footballers of the “Zenit” opened the
score on the 36 minute. Artem Dzyuba, the forward of the team, sent the ball
with his head under the crossbar of the gate. The Petersburg’s team doubled the
score almost immediately. At the 40th minute, Miguel Danny, the captain of the
“Zenit”, played with forward Alexander Kokorin and scored a goal in the far
corner of the gate. A few minutes later, the “Rubin” held a similar attack, but
Ilzat Akhmetov, after receiving a pass from Rifat Zhemaletdinov, could not beat
the opponent's goalkeeper.
In the
second half, Kazan players began much more actively to conduct attacks and
created a series of acute moments at the gates of the “Zenit”. Jonathas, the
forward of the “Rubin”, had a good chance to score. Maksim Lestenne, midfielder
of Kazan, brought the striker one on one, but the defender of the “Zenit”
knocked the ball from under the attacker's legs at the last moment. At the 84th
minute, the guests were left in the minority: Artur Yusupov, player of St.
Petersburg, was sent off for a second yellow card. Kazan strengthened the
onslaught at the gates of the guests, but could not score. The Tatarstan’s
capital players will hold next match on April 6 in Yekaterinburg, where they
will compete with the local club “Ural” for reaching the final of the Cup of
Russia, reports the press service of the FC “Rubin”.
